Charles Barkley played guest to Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay when he talked about his troubled childhood before he made his mark in the NBA. He spoke about his position on drugs and how he attempted to try it just out of curiosity.
He recalled how his late brother’s visit to rehab spiked his curiosity and he then asked some of his boys to get some for him. Now he is all about advocating against the use of drugs and substance abuse among young kids so they don’t end up like his late brother.
I said young man, I don’t understand why you gotta do drugs. I just don’t get it and I almost did cocaine one time cos you know I had to put my brother in a bunch of rehabs.Charles Barkley said on Club Shay Shay:
Charles Barkley knows firsthand the dangers of drugs as he lost his brother to a heart attack after he had suffered as a result of prolonged use of hard drugs. A situation he said broke his heart and his mother’s heart.
However, Barkley said what stopped him from towing that path was the realization that money could do a lot of good instead of it being wasted on drugs that could come back to haunt or cost your life. Unfortunately, his brother didn’t get that same knowledge early on and if he did could have avoided his early demise.
Charles Barkley recently stated that Zion Williamson losing 25lb after the New Orleans Pelicans’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the In-season Tournament was a mistake. He made this known while speaking to Shannon Sharpe once again on his podcast.
Barkley said that Zion Williamson reminded him of himself and despite the criticism that surrounded his weight, he believed that the timing could have been better.
You can’t get in shape during the season, You get in shape during the summer… You gotta do that during the summer because you got to be ready to go when the season starts.Charles Barkley said on Club Shay Shay:
Furthermore, Barkley didn’t fail to acknowledge the skills of the Pelicans star or how explosive he is on the court. His latest comments have triggered a series of reactions from fans due to his previous comments on Williamson.
